All shaving is performed on a Professional CNC Lathe with Digital readout. We are able to Shave ANY Baseball or Softball bat that has an end cap. If your Bat Doctor doesn't offer this that's a good indicator they don't have the needed experience.

What are the ways to doctor a bat?
Bat Shaving is one of the hottest topics right
now. Any aluminum or composite (Softball or Baseball) bat is a great
candidate for shaving. Shaving will allow your bat to
perform at it's highest possible level. On average you will
see improvements of 30-50ft over stock. Composite bats
benefit the most from shaving but aluminum bats will also
benefit from shaving but not quite as much as
composite bats. Please note that your durability will be diminished
by about 25% but the benefits will make the loss in
durability worth it.
I've seen lower priced Bat Shaving Services. Why is this?
Bat Shaving IS an exact science and you MUST get it
done by a professional. You will see Bat Shaving for as low as $40-$50. With Bat Shaving
you GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. If you choose to go with a lower priced company you will not
get the results you desire or your $300 bat will prematurely break after minimal hits. A lot of lower price services will only use a hand drill to hone the inside of the bat out.

How do you Shave a Bat?
We'll try to educate you about the Bat Shaving
process and how you can benefit from it. The first step in
the shaving process is removing the end cap. Companies that
offer their bat shaving services to the public are able to
remove end caps without damage. This allows them to be
re-used to ensure a proper fit. In some cases the end cap is
damaged during the removal process so you want to make sure
you choose a company the ability to replace the end cap if
needed.. Recently the associations have mandated bat
manufactures make it more difficult to remove the end caps
and this has made it more difficult to remove the end caps
without damaging them. If you find a good bat shaver they
will be able to make you a new end cap that is almost
identical to the original. We suggest you try to locate
someone that has this ability. Once the end cap is removed
the inner barrel walls of the bat are then shaved to make them
thinner. A qualified bat shaver will use a $100K Professional CNC
Lathe to remove a predetermine amount of material from the
inner walls of
your bat. They will remove typically 1-2 ounces of weight during the
shaving process.
What are the benefits from
shaving?
Once your bat is shaved, the walls will be able to compress
more and this will create greater trampoline effect when it
makes contact with the ball. This will create a higher
batted ball speed which adds distance. I would say a typical
increase would be 30-50ft in distance and a much larger
sweet spot so your miss-hits are not noticed as much. We
highly recommend that you locate a supplier that will roll
your bat along with shaving. This will give you the best
results. Some bat shaving companies charge you extra for the
bat rolling. I suggest you find one that includes the Bat
Rolling at no cost.
What are risks associated with
Bat Shaving?
As mentioned above, when you shave your bat you are thinning
out the walls of the bats. Bats were designed with
durability in mind as well as performance. Since the walls
are thinner your bat will most likely break sooner than a
bat that has not been shaven. If you roll your bat, you will
achieve almost the same results but the durability will not
be sacrificed. Another consideration is the potential legal
issues that come with shaving. If you were to injure someone
using a shaved bat you most likely will be sued and banned
from your league or association. It's very easy to determine
if a bat has been shaved or not. You simply just remove the
end cap and look inside. You will be able to see the lathe
marks on the inside of the barrel. By rolling your bat you
will not be able to tell that the bat has been altered at
all. For this reason we will ask you to sign our disclaimer
